Brunch-Inspired Bridal Shoot

Photo Styling / Portfolio

The It’s Love June issue is here! We wanted to inspire brides to think outside of the box when it comes to menu choices, so we collaborated with Bridges Golf Course to come up with a brunch themed menu featuring platters of breakfast favourites including waffles, pancakes, and scones, and added in salmon canapés, mini plum tomatoes stuffed with goat cheese, and prosciutto-wrapped baby potatoes. The best part? We got to taste a bit of everything!

Moore Photography did a beautiful job capturing the whole delicious scene. My favourite detail of the shoot was the beautiful table from Prairie Barnwood. Their work is impeccable and they went above and beyond for us, creating this custom white wash barnwood table and bench that really completes the look.

Fache Floral Designs did an incredible job with the floral arrangements featuring pomegranates and ornamental raspberries. The vases are a DIY project that I created to add a bit of texture to the table. I started by using natural beeswax to wrap simple glass IKEA bowls, and then white IKEA candle sticks were glued to the base to add some height.

Here are my tips from the It’s Love article to create a balanced and aesthetically-pleasing food table:

“Varying height, colour, and texture are the most important things to keep in mind when planning your table, whether it’s set for brunch, a candy buffet, or even a sweets display. We created our own DIY pedestals using candlesticks and large serving plates from IKEA to achieve varying height, which introduces a lot of visual interest. Keeping the serving dishes and table neutral allowed us to bring in lots of colour through fresh berries, flowers and food, while ensuring a cohesive look. Texture was added to the table through wildflower-inspired arrangements and a mix of ceramic, wood, gold and glass. The most important tip? Choose experienced vendors to pull the look together for you if you’re not confident you can pull it off yourself.”
