“Amidst the vines and fallen leaves of a deserted wasteland she stands, a breathtaking vision of unparalleled beauty.” It’s Love, January 2013

This photo shoot is one of my favourites to date. The setting, the photographer, the flowers, the hair and makeup… everything came together beautifully. My favourite pull from the day was definitely the blush coloured “Hera” gown picture above from Wtoo Brides.

Desiree from Panache is a real beauty. She did such an amazing job and is a pleasure to work with. You can see the full spread in the January issue of It’s Love (formerly WeddingsInWinnipeg.ca).

WeddingsInWinnipeg.ca/It’s Love Rebrand

Graphic Design / Logo Design / Portfolio / Publication Design

My co-workers and I over at WeddingsInWinnipeg.ca have been looking forward to releasing our January issue for a few reasons: First, the company went through a change in ownership early this summer. This has been a positive change (to say the least!) and I am so excited to watch It’s Love grow into what we always knew WeddingsInWinnipeg.ca could be.

Second, no more “W”! I had a lot of fun working on the rebrand which included coming up with a new name, logo, and overall look. The new cover came together beautifully and I’m having such a fun time designing the 2013 covers using this new masthead. Shown above are the various uses of the logo and a sneak peek at the new website that will be launching early this year!

Last, but certainly not least, our gorgeous fashion editorial! Lani Elias Fine Art Photography did an amazing job, it’s definitely my favourite shoot to date. We had so many talented vendors involved to pull this shoot off and I couldn’t be happier with the results. I’ll be posting a full shoot post in the next couple of days.

The January issue of It’s Love is on it’s way to your doorstep if you’re subscribed to our free mailing list! If not, you can pick up a copy at 7-Eleven or any of our Love List advertisers.

Happy Holidays!

We’ve been sitting on these gorgeous photos since September, and we’ve just shared a few that didn’t make it into the cover story on the WeddingsInWinnipeg.ca blog, along with a HUGE announcement! Head on over there to see what the fuss is about!

I was really excited when I was approached by Fusion Communications Group to style the photographs for the St.Vital Centre Christmas Campaign! Check out the final TSA’s and billboards around the city or on the mall’s website.

Publication Design: Winter Elegance

Graphic Design / Photo Styling / Portfolio / Publication Design

The December issue is here! This is the last time you’ll see a “W” on the cover… yep, that’s right! We’re changing our name and our look coming January 2013 and I can’t wait to share it with you. It’s kind of the end of an era, but I am totally ready for a fresh start and a fresh new year, aren’t you?

Now, back to this shoot. Above are some of my sketches from our mood board, it’s always fun to see how close the shoot actually stays (or doesn’t stay) to the initial sketches! We wanted to create a sophisticated winter wedding table to help inspire brides who are getting married in the off-season. We focused on the simplistic beauty of nature and the talented ladies at Floral Elements really did an amazing job with all of the greenery. My favourite part of the shoot was the massive garland centrepiece, so elegant. We also added DIY touches of gold  and a black and white striped table cloth to add a bit of holiday glam.

See the rest of the photos right here! A huge thanks to luckygirl photography for the photos.

Website Design: Brittany Mahood Photography

Graphic Design / Portfolio / Website Design

Brittany is a photographer skilled in both film and digital travel, portraiture and wedding photography based in Winnipeg. I see big and beautiful things in this lady’s future, she is so passionate, talented and hard working which is a failproof combination. I had the pleasure of working with her to create her portfolio/blog website. It’s a completely custom WordPress site that will allow her to do all of the updating and changes on her own. I’ll let her tell you the rest!

“this website is something i’ve been looking forward to for years if i’m being honest. and i just needed the right partners to pull it off. the new brittanymahood.com will function as both my blog and website, because really, do i need both? no. home page will always have latest posts like a blog and the navigation on the right will take you to any category you wish to go to. voilá.”

“ashley (ashleynicole.ca) was instrumental in bringing my vision to life. i knew i wanted some sort of floral motif that fit my brand, but it was ash’s idea to use real flowers that we shot ourselves. ashley is a wonderful photo stylist and i had never seen a brand use real flowers before, so i was all in. with the lovely lauren at academy florists providing these david austen roses, it all came together.”

Above are some of my favourite couple shots from Brittany. See what I’m saying? She’s one talented photographer. Enjoy your new website, Britt! xo

DIY Christmas Foliage Wreath

DIY

Lani, Jessie and I were all inspired by this wreath, and decided to take a crack at it. We struggled quite a bit with forming a decent circle (reading the step by step instructions might have helped!), but for a first time attempt I don’t think we did that bad! I think this may be a new Christmas tradition.
