My sister, Jenna Rae of Jenna Rae Cakes, constantly inspires me with her amazing ability to turn a simple cake into an edible work of art. This Gold Sequin Tutorial was recently featured on The Cake Blog.

One Plus One Design + Illustration approached me to help create and style website images for Andrea Pelletier, a seamstress who creates one-of-a-kind garments. We toured her at-home shop which was filled to the brim with inspiring patterns, colours and textures for us to work with. She has a love for cats, eclectic items, beautiful tattoos and her family, and we wanted to make that evident in her website imagery.
One Plus One Design did an amazing job with Andrea’s website and branding. Her new website is a complete reflection of her laid back, warm and friendly personality, and showcases her talent so well. Thanks again to OPO for another amazing collaboration – working as a stylist with skilled graphic designers is always such a treat!
My good friends, Tyler and Jessie, own a boutique branding and stationery company called One Plus One Design + Illustration and asked me this past summer to help style their already beautiful home. They’ve created a space that’s comfortable and cozy and have infused their home with a ton of personality. Take a look, isn’t their backyard incredible? It’s one of my favourite places to be in the summertime… I can’t wait to be out there again in a few (hopefully) short months.
The Spirit Sands is a breathtaking setting of large sand dunes and rolling hills that Lani and I had been dreaming about shooting for an editorial for quite some time. We were awe-struck by the soft palette and the simplicity of the sand dunes which became our main inspiration. Due to the location we wanted to keep this shoot fairly simple and understated but quite elegant at the same time. We chose dresses with intricate details, clean lines, and flowing fabrics and paired the look with loose, oversized and muted flower arrangements. The hair was styled with beachy waves, and the make up was very natural with a beautiful red lip to tie the elegant, yet simple, look together.
It turned out to be one of the hottest days of the summer on the day of the shoot, and we had to hike a total of 6km to and from our vehciles armed with heavy wedding dresses, buckets of flowers, camera equipment, a ladder, and makeup supplies. Needless to say, we were all dripping wet and exhausted when we got to our location. Luckily, Jessica (our wonderful makeup artist) and Kelli (the beautiful model) were troopers.

It’s not very hard to style a Jenna Rae Cakes table. A greenery garland and white pillar candles surround these 3 statuesque cakes which display hand painted appliqués, fondant pearls, sugar flowers, berries, sugar frills and edible golden sequins. They truly are delicious works of art!

Photoshoot prepping for the It’s Love Winter Issue has been keeping me busy the last couple days! Here is a sneak peek into one of the shoots: hand marbled paper and white marble serving dishes. I cannot wait to see this one come together!
I had to post about Thuss + Farrell’s new book, Paper to Petal. I just got it in the mail today (ordered it here!) and it is incredible. The styling, the photography, the design, the paper flowers… so lovely. Even if you plan on never attempting a paper flower tutorial, I recommend you pick yourself up a copy for the inspiration alone.
